Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Poonch on Friday to meet the families affected by Pakistani shelling during the army operation vermilion. Along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials and top security personnel, Amit Shah arrived to meet the affected families, express condolences and provide financial assistance. During this, Shah said that on the night of May 7, we destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK. This was a befitting reply to the terrorists by crores of Indians.
Shah further said that hundreds of terrorists were killed in this operation. We attacked the terrorists, but Pakistan considered it an attack on itself. He showed the world that he gives shelter to the terrorists. He said that Pakistan targeted residential areas in Jammu and Kashmir and suffered the most in Poonch. For the first time after independence, firing was done in Poonch. The whole world is condemning Pakistan’s attack. The Indian armed forces, giving a befitting reply, destroyed nine airbase of Pakistan and as a result they had to come forward for the ceasefire.
Amit Shah said that we have given the message that India will not tolerate any attack on innocent citizens, Indian armed forces and every attack will be responded to more accurately. He said that we will answer every terrorist attack. The people of Poonch showed bravery. Shah said that it is our policy to respond to the terrorist attack. He also said that the development of Jammu and Kashmir will not stop nor stop. In the hostility from across the border between May 7 and May 10, the highest number of citizens were casualties in Poonch, 14 of the total 28 citizens were casualties from the same district.
The purpose of Shah’s visit is to express solidarity with bereaved families and assure them of continuous support of the central government. The operation launched in early May was launched in response to a series of vermilion, growing ceasefire violations from across the Line of Control, drone infiltration and a series of targeted civil attacks. Since this operation, military attendance and monitoring have been increased in border districts like Poonch and Rajouri.
