Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday termed the Indus Water Agreement with Pakistan as ‘unjust and unilateral’, saying that India and its farmers are the only right over the Indus river water.

He said that due to this treaty, the water of Indus “is irrigated by the fields of our enemies, while the land of my country and the farmers of my country are thirsty.” Modi said, “The water of India will be used for India, it will be only for the farmers of India and we will not tolerate such arrangements that will be denied their farmers who have deprived their farmers.”
The Prime Minister said, “India has been tolerating it for decades. We will not bear it any more. In the interest of our farmers, in the interest of the nation, this agreement is unacceptable to us. ”India had decided to suspend the treaty -old treaty after the terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack.
