Sanjita Mahapatra’s success story
Maharashtra: Parents wanted a son and a daughter was born, that unwanted daughter overcame difficulties and problems since childhood and today the same parents say with pride on her being an IAS officer – she is our daughter. The story of Sanjita Mohapatra, who journeyed from an unwanted daughter to an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is a story of overcoming obstacles with grit and determination. IAS Sanjita Mahapatra told her story in a press conference a few days ago which is inspiring.
Story of IAS Sanjita Mohapatra
Mahapatra told that he was born in a poor family in Rourkela, Odisha and his mother was completely disappointed by his birth. Because she already had a daughter and she wanted a son but she got Sanjeeta as her daughter. In this way, she was an unwanted child and her family almost abandoned her, but her elder sister insisted on her parents, after which her parents kept her with them and then began the story of struggle.

Mahapatra’s childhood was full of difficulties due to the poor economic condition of the family and he had to depend on social organisations, teachers and scholarships to complete his education. Similarly, after obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he got the job of Assistant Manager in Steel Authority of India (SAIL). The family was then happy and also helped his parents financially to build a house in their village.
Sanjita Mahapatra shared her story
He told that when I got a job in SAIL, my parents became proud of my achievements for the first time. Mahapatra’s dream since childhood was to become an IAS officer. She then got married but her husband fully supported her in achieving her dream and with the inspiration and support of her husband, she passed the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) in her fifth attempt in 2019. Along with her parents, her husband and in-laws are also proud of her achievement.

Mahapatra is currently working as the CEO of Amravati Zilla Parishad. Mohapatra said that I now want to empower women in self-help groups and improve the quality of education in Zilla Parishad schools. She has also expressed her desire to create a niche market for the products of self-help groups and is working in this direction.
