More than 1.5 million people registered for visit to Chardham

There is tremendous enthusiasm among the devotees for the Chardham Yatra starting from the end of this month, for which more than 15 lakh devotees have registered themselves so far. Uttarakhand Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve said here that the department has intensified preparations for the Chardham Yatra, under which online registration of pilgrims was started from March 20. He informed that this time the registration for the journey has been linked to the Aadhaar card and ‘on -spot’ (on the spot) registration has been arranged through ‘Facial Recognition’.

More than 15 lakh devotees registered

Kurve said that till now more than 1.5 million devotees have registered for the Chardham Yatra. He said that ‘on -spot’ registration has been provided for passengers who are unable to register online and this registration will also be through Aadhaar ‘Facial Recognition’ technology. The Tourism Secretary said that ‘on -spot’ registration is especially for devotees who are traveling through various bus associations. He informed that the devotees traveling by buses will be registered in the hotels or Dharamshalas where they will stay.

Booking starts for helicopter services

Kurve said that they would not need to go to the registration counter for this. 15 mobile based registration teams have been appointed in Haridwar and 25 in Rishikesh for conducting this process. He said that their suggestions have been implemented after meeting with the Hotel Association and Tirtha Purohit. There is also a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the helicopter service and booking of tickets has started for the month of May. Kurve said that all tickets have been done on the basis of booking identity card. He said that the passengers are contacted on the phone and asked what medium their ticket has been booked and how much amount has been taken.

Chardham Yatra will start from April 30

The secretary said that so far around 2300 passengers have been called, out of which 1600 have been talked to and most of the passengers have informed about booking the helicopter tickets themselves. This year’s Chardham Yatra will begin with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Temple located in Uttarkashi district on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya on 30 April. The doors of Kedarnath located in Rudraprayag district will open on May 2 while the doors of Badrinath in Chamoli district will open on May 4. This time the state government has decided to register 40 percent ‘on-spot’ along with online registration, so that the devotees who are unable to use the Internet do not have to face any problem.
