BJP MLA Michael Lobo
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Michael Lobo claimed on Thursday that the number of international tourists in Goa is coming “deficiency” due to the sales of Idli-Sambhar on the beach. Addressing a press conference in Kalangut, Northern Goa, Lobo said that if less foreigners are coming to Goa, the government alone cannot be blamed for this, as all stakeholders are equally responsible. Lobo regretted that Goa residents have rented their huts located on the beach to traders of other places.
What did BJP MLA say
He said, “Some people of Bengaluru are serving ‘Vada Pav’ in huts, some are selling ‘Idli-Sambhar’. (Therefore) International tourism has been declining in the state for the last two years. ”However, the MLA did not explain how the popular South Indian cuisine is affecting tourism in their state. Lobo said, “There is a noise due to a decline in the number of tourists. In the coastal region, whether it is north or south, the arrival of foreign tourists has declined a drastic decline. Many factors are responsible for this. ”He said that every person should take responsibility as stakeholders.
BJP MLA warns
Lobo said that every year some foreigners come to Goa, but young tourists coming from abroad are going away from the state. He said, “The tourism department and other stakeholders should hold a joint meeting and study the reasons why foreign tourists are not ready to come to Goa.” Lobo said that Russian and Ukrainian tourists have stopped coming to Goa due to war. He said, “Tourists from former Soviet Union countries have stopped coming to Goa.” The MLA said that the state should resolve important tourism issues. He warned and said, “If we do not make any arrangement, then bad days will be seen in the tourism sector.”
