The ban on their operation after death from horse-mule disease on Kedarnath walking route will continue at present. Dr. B.B. VR C Purushottam said on Wednesday that in view of the increasing transition in horse-mules in Kedar Valley, local people, horses-mules businessmen and other organizations have been requested to carry forward the ban on their operation on the journey route so that there is no situation of increasing infection in animals. He informed that a decision will be taken at the local level by the district administration for re-operation of horse-mules on the walking route.
8 horses’ diarrhea and 5 died of acute colic
Purushottam said that on Sunday and Monday, 13 horses were reported to have died in the journey. He said that 8 of these horses died of ‘diarrhea’ and 5 horses have died of ‘Acute Colic’. He said that samples of these horses have been sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh for the detail report. In view of the seriousness of the case, a team of more than 22 doctors has been posted on the travel route.
Investigation report will be conducted only when negative
He said that unhealthy horse-mules will not be allowed to run on the travel route while the investigation report of samples of healthy horses will be allowed to operate on the travel route only when the report comes negative. Purushottam said that a month ago, samples of horse-mules were taken in two villages of Rudraprayag district a month ago, some of which were found in signs of Aquine Inplays in horses. He said that after this, till 30 April, a record 16 thousand horses were examined in 26 days. Out of these, the investigation report of 152 horse-mules samples was found positive, but their RTPCR test was found to be negative.
Let us know that to reach Kedarnath Dham located at a height of more than 11.5 thousand feet, one has to travel about 16 kilometers. Some devotees have to resort to pitu, palanquin or horse-mule to decide this path.
