Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Adi Festival, 2025’, President Draupadi Murmu said on Sunday that the development initiatives in the country have positively affected tribal communities. He said that multidimensional efforts are being made to ensure the progress of the tribal community. President Murmu said that the real development of our country will be done only when our tribal communities move forward.

“Development initiatives have made a positive impact on tribal communities”

President Draupadi Murmu said that development initiatives have made positive impact on tribal communities ranging from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He said, “These efforts have not only provided opportunities to tribal families, but have also raised awareness about their culture and contribution.” The President emphasized that education is the core of these efforts, which will help tribal children to get quality education opportunities and will be empowered for a better future.

Murmu also said that about 250 new Eklavya schools are under construction to further increase education opportunities. He said that millions of tribal students are benefiting from hostel facilities and they are also being given financial assistance to get higher education abroad.

“30 new medical colleges established in tribal dominated areas”

Murmu said, “Education plays the most important role in the development of any society and it is a matter of great satisfaction that more than 470 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are providing education to 1.25 lakh tribal children across the country.” He said that in the last 10 years, 30 new medical colleges have been established in tribal dominated areas to increase the reach of healthcare. The ‘Adi Mahotsav’ is an annual festival, which celebrates tribal heritage, crafts and entrepreneurship and serves as a platform to display tribal traditions. (input language)
