Ambassador Denis Alipov of Russia in India has confirmed that India will receive the remaining two regiments of the S-400 air defense system at the time. He said that despite the delay in supply chain and production due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the delivery program is now on track and will be completed in a timely manner.
India signed a $ 5.4 billion agreement with Russia in October 2018, under which five S-400 Triumph missile systems were to be received. The first regiment was held in December 2021, while the second and third were handed over to India in April 2022 and October 2023 respectively.
The delivery of the remaining two regiments is now expected to be completed by 2026. Russia has assured India that there will be no obstruction in these delivery, and defense cooperation between the two countries will continue uninterrupted.
The S-400 system, known as “Sudarshan Chakra” in India, is capable of identifying and destroying the enemy’s bombers up to 380 kilometers, jet, detective aircraft, missiles and drones. This system can penetrate several goals simultaneously and significantly increases India’s air defense capacity.
Recently, during the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the S-400 system played an important role in thwarting Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks. The Indian Air Force successfully deployed it, which proved its effectiveness.
