On Wednesday, Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams stressed the importance of modernization of madrasas, saying that the state government wants better education for Muslim children to ensure their bright future. The Sansaar appreciated the efforts of the government and said that the implementation of NCERT syllabus in madrasas will not only be limited to religious texts, but also the purpose of Muslim children will be ensured. There is no target of any particular religion. He said, “We are giving the concept of modern madrasas, which reflects the wishes of the Dhami government. The state government wants NCERT courses to be followed for the bright future of Muslim children. The state government wants better education for Muslim children and does not just want to limit them to religious books so that they can make their future.
The chairman of the Uttarakhand Waqf Board emphasized the need for clarity on the criteria to open the madrasa.
Reacting to Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind filed a petition in the Supreme Court against sealing madrasas, Shams said, “This is democracy and it is their right to file a petition, but at the same time they should also tell about the criteria to open the madrasa. There should be some limitations and criteria to open the madrasa.”
Earlier on March 21, on the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Haridwar administration had taken action on unregistered madrasas under the Madrasa Board or Education Department in Uttarakhand.
