On Sunday morning, the statue of Hanuman Ji was found damaged in the Hanuman temple located in Naya Tola Bhikhanpur of Ishakchak police station area of Bhagalpur, which caused a sensation in the area. When the local people opened the lock of the temple in the morning, they found that the right hand of the Hanuman statue was damaged. As soon as this news spread, a crowd of people started gathering near the temple, and seeing the situation, the local police immediately reached the spot.
Immediate action by police and administration
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police team and the force of several police stations reached the spot. Keeping security in mind, a flag march was conducted so that peace is maintained in the area. The police said that prima facie it appears that a part of the statue might have broken and fallen on its own, however, a thorough investigation of this incident is being done.
Peace committee and dignitaries also gathered
After the incident, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (City) and the Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. After this, a meeting was held with the members of the peace committee and other dignitaries so that no uneasy situation arises. The police and the administration have appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Immersion and repair of the idol after Pitru Paksha
After the incident, the damaged parts have been collected and kept safely. After Pitru Paksha, these pieces will be duly immersed in the Ganga, and after that the statue will be repaired. The priest of the temple has cleaned the place and started regular worship so that religious customs can be followed.
Social media and area monitoring
The administration has kept a close watch on social media to prevent any kind of rumours and anti-social activities. Apart from this, CCTV footage of the temple and surrounding areas is being examined. The police have said that strict action will be taken against the culprits and continuous patrolling is also being done in the area to maintain peace.
