One such case of protesting against crime against women in a unique way has come to light from Kolkata. In a Durga Puja pandal here, an idol of Durga Maa without any weapon has been placed, covering her face with her hands. Not only this, the lion of Mata Rani has also been shown with its face bowed down. In this way, protest has been expressed against the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. This theme has been named ‘Lajja’.

Durga idol on the theme of Lajja has been installed in the Durga Puja pandal of Saraswati Kalimata Mandir Parishad Club in Narkeldanga, Kolkata. The Durga idol is shown feeling ashamed over the incident of rape and murder. The dead body of a girl is shown below the idol of Goddess Durga. Whereas the doctor’s apron is hanging right next to the Mother Goddess. The lion riding on Mata Rani is also sitting with his mouth hanging. There is a lot of discussion about this idol of Durga Puja pandal. However, this idol is not kept for worship but only to express protest. A second common idol has been installed in the pandal for worship. Let us tell you that doctors from all over the country had demonstrated against this heinous incident that took place at RG Kar Medical College. Junior doctors of RG Kar Medical College are still on strike demanding justice.
