The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 has passed the upper house of Parliament late on Thursday from Rajya Sabha. After a full day’s discussion and debate between the ruling party and the opposition parties, voting took place late in the Rajya Sabha and the bill was passed. Let us know that earlier on Wednesday, the Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. After a long debate and discussion, the Waqf Bill was passed from the Lok Sabha late at night. On Thursday, Union Minorities Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. After this, this bill was discussed throughout the day. Voting was held on the Waqf Bill in the Rajya Sabha late on Thursday. 128 votes were cast in favor of this bill and 95 votes in opposition. With this, the bill passed by majority.
What will be the process ahead?
There are three stages to convert a bill into law. The first bill has to be passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha i.e. both houses. The bill is then sent to the President for approval. The bill becomes law after the President’s signature. The government then issues notification to make the law effective.
