New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘If we have one, we are safe’ slogan and accused him of giving priority to the interests of business tycoon Gautam Adani over the people of Maharashtra. Rahul Gandhi raised serious questions on the BJP government regarding the Dharavi redevelopment project in a press conference held in Mumbai. While taking out two posters from a safe in the press conference, Rahul said that PM Modi’s slogan ‘If one is safe, one is safe’, actually ‘safe’ means safe and property. He alleged that the Dharavi redevelopment project was made only to benefit Gautam Adani. Rahul claimed that the entire political machinery has been sabotaged to hand over the scheme to one person.
The Congress leader supported Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray’s promise that the tender for this project would be canceled if the Maha Vikas Aghadi government is formed. He also raised questions as to how most of India’s ports, airports and properties are being handed over to one person.

BJP’s counterattack
BJP retaliated sharply on these allegations of Rahul Gandhi. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, while criticizing Rahul Gandhi in a press conference held in Delhi, said that it does not suit Congress leaders to do drama around the safe. Responding to Rahul’s slogan, Patra said, “For us ‘SAFE’ means security, but for people like Rahul Gandhi it is a safe. This family has always been breaking into the safe.”
He made several allegations of scams on Congress and said that Congress leaders have committed corruption worth thousands of crores in cases like National Herald case, 2G spectrum scam, Coal scam and AgustaWestland. Patra sarcastically said, “Both mother and son are accused in the National Herald case and are out on bail.”

BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde challenged Rahul Gandhi on the Dharavi redevelopment project, saying that this tender was issued on the basis of the conditions of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. He said, “The land of Dharavi belongs to the Maharashtra government and the poor will not be removed from there. “Whoever stays in Dharavi will get a house there.”
Taking aim at Rahul, Tawde said, “Rahul Gandhi should see the pictures of Robert Vadra and other Congress leaders with Adani. He himself has links with Adani, but blames others.” This political war seems to be intensifying before the Maharashtra Assembly elections. It is clear from Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and BJP’s reply that the election atmosphere will be heated regarding the issue of Dharavi project and Adani Group. The election results on November 23 will reveal the truth of the strategies of both the parties.
