Those with 10 years old Aadhaar card will have to pay Rs 50

New Delhi: UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has informed that Aadhaar cards which are more than 10 years old and have not been updated since then will be required to undergo revalidation. Aadhaar holders will have to submit identity proof and address proof documents by September 14 so that their Aadhaar details are correct and up-to-date. If not updated within this time period, a fee of Rs 50 will be charged for any further changes.

Revalidation Process: What’s New?

Under the Aadhaar revalidal process, you will have to submit your Aadhaar number and demographic or biometric information to UIDAI’s Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). UIDAI will then verify your submitted details by cross-referencing them with its existing database. If the verification is successful, your details will be updated in UIDAI’s records.

Login with Aadhaar Number:

Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code. Click on “Send OTP”. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and login.

Select the fields to update:

You can update details like name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number and email id. Select the fields you want to update.

Upload supporting documents:

Upload scanned copies of required supporting documents like identity proof, address proof, etc. Make sure the documents are in the prescribed format and size.

Review and Submit:

Check the updated information carefully. Submit the form after checking all the details.

Get Acknowledgements:

After submitting the update request, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt containing an Update Request Number (URN). You can use this URN to check the status of your update request.

What will happen if Aadhaar is not updated?

If the Aadhaar card is not updated by September 14, a fee of Rs 50 will have to be paid for any further update. UIDAI has made this revalidation mandatory so that all the details of Aadhaar cards older than 10 years remain correct and up-to-date.
