New Delhi. In a heart-wrenching incident in Kotputli, Rajasthan, three-year-old innocent Chetna lost the battle of life after falling into a borewell. On Wednesday, after a 220-hour long rescue operation, the girl was brought out, but doctors declared her dead in the hospital. Now the exact cause of death will be known after post-mortem. The incident took place in Badiyali village of Kotputli, where Chetna had fallen into the borewell while playing on December 23. As soon as this news spread, the administration came into action and immediate rescue operation was started.
Rescue operation lasted for 10 days
Administration, SDRF and NDRF teams worked together day and night to save Chetna. Fire brigade, JCB and city council employees were also involved in this operation which lasted for 10 days. Kotputli’s SP, ASP, DSP and police officers of three police stations were continuously monitoring the spot.

Declared dead on reaching hospital
Hospital medical officer Chaitanya Rawat said that a separate bed was prepared for Chetna, but after reaching the hospital, doctors found her dead. Post mortem of the girl’s body is being done, only after which it will be clear when and how Chetna died.

Second painful incident in a month
It is noteworthy that this is the second incident in Rajasthan in a month, where an innocent child has lost his life after falling into a borewell. Earlier, five-year-old Aryan had also died after falling into a borewell in Dausa district. This incident once again raises a big question for the administration and the general public. There is a need to take concrete steps regarding open borewells and their security arrangements, so that such incidents can be prevented in future.
