Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that he ‘surrendered’ on the instructions of US President Donald Trump during a conflict with Pakistan. On this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retaliated and termed Rahul Gandhi’s remarks as ‘Thunder vs. Blunder’.
Rahul Gandhi’s statement
During an event in Bhopal, Rahul Gandhi said, “Trump got a call and Narendra ji immediately surrendered-history is a witness to it, it is the character of BJP-RSS, he always bends.” He also said that in 1971, the Congress government broke Pakistan despite America’s threats. Rahul Gandhi said that the lions and lions of the Congress fight the superpowers and never bow down.
BJP’s response
On this statement of Rahul Gandhi, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia reacted to the social media platform ‘X’ and called him ‘Blunder’. The BJP termed Rahul Gandhi’s remarks as ‘Thunder vs. Blunder’.
Controversy over America’s role
Prior to the official announcement of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump claimed on ‘Truth Social’ that his government immediately played an important role in the ceasefire. However, India has rejected this claim. Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt and Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar clarified that the ceasefire took place through direct contact between the military commanders of both countries. Jaishankar said, “Due to the action of our armed forces, Pakistan said: We are ready to stop.”
This development has given rise to a fierce debate between the opposition and the ruling party on India’s foreign policy and defense decisions.
