New Delhi. If Donald Trump comes back to power in America, will he prove to be friends for India or will their decisions be against India? The answer to this question is Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar has given very simple language. During an event at Hansraj College, University of Delhi, he said that Trump is an “American Nationalist”, just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about India’s interests.
Trump friend or enemy for India?
In the program, Jaishankar was asked that if Trump becomes President again, will he prove to be good for India? To this he replied, “I recently attended his swearing -in ceremony, and we were treated well. Trump is an American nationalist. They will give priority to the interests of America, just as Modi ji puts forward the interests of India. ”
He also admitted that Trump’s policies can bring major changes in global politics. But India’s foreign policy will always be decided according to the interests of the country.
‘Yes, Trump will change a lot’
S. Jaishankar said, “Yes, Trump will change a lot. Some things cannot be according to our expectations, but we have to work keeping in mind our national interests. There may be differences on some issues, but in many areas we will also get better possibilities. ”
He also said that personal relations between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are quite strong, which will benefit Indo-US relations.
‘We are the only ones who are keepers’
Speaking on the global influence of India, Jaishankar said that today India’s identity in the world is increasing rapidly. “Now many non-Indians have also started calling themselves Indians, because they feel that this will help them get a seat in the aircraft.”
Referring to his political journey, he said, “I never thought that I would become a bureaucrat and then come into politics.” But Prime Minister Modi carried me forward, and I could not refuse. “
He also clarified that Indians living abroad still depend on their homeland for support. “Whatever people go out, they look towards India in some form or the other.”
What will be the effect on Indo-US relations?
It is clear from Jaishankar’s statement that if Trump comes to power again, then there may be some changes in Indo-US relations, but it will not be a threat to India. The relations between the two countries will remain strong, as India decides its foreign policy only on the basis of its interests.
