In this war, on Thursday, the Stalin government removed the money (₹) of the rupee (₹) from its budget documents and replaced it with the Tamil insignia. Due to which politics became hot. The ₹ was designed by Professor Uday Kumar Dharmahalingam, son of former DMK MLA from Tamil Nadu. For which he was honored. Uday Kumar Dharmahalingam’s statement has now come on this matter. Uday Kumar said that he designed a ₹ mark 15 years ago. Uday Kumar Dharmahalingam said that he never thought that such a debate would happen. At the same time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Modi government has targeted the Stalin government in a long post on X. The Finance Minister has written that it is ironic that Uday Kumar, son of former DMK MLA, designed a symbol of ₹. By erasing which the DMK is not only rejecting the national symbol, but is also disregarding the creative contribution of a Tamil youth. The Finance Minister has written in his post that the insignia of the rupee is identified internationally. He wrote that at a time when India is emphasizing on cross -border payments using UPI, should we underestimate the symbol of our currency. The Finance Minister also said that it weakens the commitment to national unity on the removal of a ₹ sign by the Stalin government. Nirmala Sitharaman further wrote that this promotes separatist feelings and is a dangerous mindset to weaken India’s unity and regional pride.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said in a post written on X that the rupee in Tamil is called Rupai. The root of Rupai is also from the Sanskrit word Rupya. He has written that Sanskrit word Rupya means working silver coin or fabricated silver. The Finance Minister has further written that this word has been in Tamil trade and literature for centuries. Even today, Rupai is called Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. He wrote that many countries, including Nepal, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Seychelles and Mauritius, officially use the rupee or its equivalent as their currency. It seems that the politics that is hot on the issue of the insignia of the rupee, it does not seem to stop at the moment.
