Kozhikode: A case of clash between two groups of students has come to light near a private ‘coaching center’ in the district. During this time a student suffered a serious head injury. He was hurriedly admitted to the hospital, where a student of class 10 died late on Friday night. The police gave this information on Saturday. At the same time, the police has detained five students in this case, who will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Police say the case is being investigated.

Death at one o’clock in the night

Giving information about the incident, the police said that 16 -year -old Muhammad Shahbas, admitted to the ICU of Kozhikode Government Medical College cum Hospital, died at around 1 pm. Five students have been detained in connection with this incident and they will be accused of murder. Police said that the accused will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Dispute in farewell ceremony

According to hospital sources, Mohammad Shahbas was on the ventilator. There was a fight during a farewell ceremony at a ‘Tuition Center’ on 23 February in Thamassery and a clash again on Thursday when the quarrel escalated. In this case, General Education Minister V Shivnakutty on Saturday directed the Director of General Education to conduct a departmental inquiry into the incident.

Five students in custody

In a statement, the minister expressed grief over the student’s death. He said, “The police is investigating the incident thoroughly. Additionally, the Deputy Director of the Education Department of Kozhikode submitted a preliminary report after investigation. ”Police said the incident took place at around 5 pm on Thursday evening at Vajhupur Road in Thamassery, in which two local school students were involved. The Tharamassery police have detained five students in connection with the incident. (Input-PTI)
