Dhananjay Mahato, a migrant laborer of Bankharro village of Jobar Panchayat in Bishnugarh block of Hazaribagh district, died on 24 May 2025 in Saudi Arabia. While on June 15, the second migrant Rameshwar Mahato died in a hospital in Kuwait. The families of both the dead are pleading with the government to bring back the dead body.
After this matter came to light, the Labor Department of the Government of Jharkhand is in touch with the Labor Cell Protector of Immigrant under the Ministry of External Affairs. Along with this, the labor department of the state is also in touch with the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Soon the dead bodies are expected to reach their ancestral village.
On this matter, Hazaribagh District Deputy Commissioner (District Magistrate) Shashi Prakash Singh said that after seeing the delay, I got both families in contact with the Indian Embassy with the Indian Embassy officer myself. Now the process of sending the required documents for NOC has started. As soon as the Indian Embassy has documents related to NOC, both the bodies will be able to reach the ancestral village.
Regarding compensation, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the case of Rameshwar Mahato, the death claim will be decided by the court of Kuwait. For which the family of the deceased will have to provide documents through the Indian Embassy. This process will be completed within one to two days. With the help of the Indian Embassy, all efforts will be made to compensate the families of the deceased.
According to the family of Rameshwar Mahato, he was told by the officials of the Foreign Ministry that Rameshwar Mahato’s death is natural. Therefore, his family will get four lakh Bialis thousand nine hundred and forty rupees as compensation from the IMCO company, but his family is not agreeing to this amount.
At the same time, Dhananjay Mahato died in the accident. In such a situation, the compensation will not be cleared until they get NOC documents from the family. But the compensation will be decided on the basis of the job done in the company.
