Two-storeyed building collapsed on Saturday morning in Welcome area of North-East Delhi killed two people and eight people, including one-year-old child, were injured. The officers provided this information.
Officials said that some people are still feared trapped in the debris. He said that 10 members of the same family living in the building and some other people living near it were among the people trapped in the debris.
Regarding the incident, a senior official said, “Some more people may be buried in the rubble.”
The official said, “We were informed about the fall of a building at seven in the morning. Many teams including seven fire engines are working. Waiting for further information. ”
Local people said that 10 people from the same family lived in the building.
Local resident Asma said to ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “At around seven in the morning I was in my house when I heard a loud voice and dust was dust all around. When I came down, I saw that our neighbor’s house had collapsed. “He said,” We do not know how many people are trapped but there was a family in which there were 10 people. Three people have been saved. ”
The building fell when the locals went on a morning walk. Many of them started rescue work themselves and tried to save the trapped people before the fire department officials reached the spot. Later, with the help of firefighters, three people were evacuated from the rubble.
Atul Garg, head of Delhi Fire Service, said in a statement that a building collapsed in street number five of Janata Colony near Idgah Road in Seelampur.
Garg said, “Seven firefighters reached the spot. Three people were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital. The search campaign continues. ”
