Adnoc GAS (UAE’s Energy Company) has signed an agreement with India’s Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to supply liquid natural gas (LNG) for 10 years. Under this agreement, Adnoc will send 0.5 million metric tons to LNG HPCL every year. This is the third agreement of ADNOC in the last 12 months with a large energy company in India.
Earlier deals
Adnoc is already supplying LNG to Indian Oil Corporation and Gail India.
Through these deals, the company is strengthening India’s energy security.
What does Adnoc say?
Fatema al Nuaimi, CEO, Adnoc Gas “This agreement shows that Adnoc is capable of fulfilling the growing LNG demand in the world. Also it helps India to bring the share of natural gas to its energy mixture up to 15% by 2030.”
Where will the supply be from?
The LNG will be supplied from the Das Island plant of Adnoc.
It is the third oldest active LNG plant in the world.
More than 3,500 LNG ships have been sent worldwide so far.
The current capacity of the plant is 6 million metric tonnes per year (MMTPA).
Global impact
The agreement further strengthens the presence of Adnoc in Asia’s high -demanding market.
This shows that the partnership between UAE and India in the energy sector is becoming deep and strategic.
