Union Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth on Tuesday announced the expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) by three lakh cadets across the country.

Seth said, “The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is an organization that creates a sense of nationalism, service … Prime Minister Modi has resolved that the number of cadets in NCC should be between 17-20 lakhs … All states should contribute positively in it and we will soon achieve the goal …”.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Defense, the minister also highlighted new initiatives, such as appointing ex -servicemen as NCC instructors, who provide new employment opportunities for veterans. He praised the active participation of NCC in national campaigns like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Naya Savera Scheme and Drug Addiction Campaign.
The Union Minister of State also congratulated the NCC Mount Everest campaign team for successfully arriving at the summit on 18 May. He described this achievement as “a powerful example of cadet’s courage and flexibility”.
The statement said that while calling on continuing the center-state cooperation, Seth urged the states to fulfill their commitments to manpower, infrastructure and funding to support this historical expansion, which will strengthen the NCC’s integral role in shaping the youth and securing the nation’s future.
Seth also inaugurated the Special United States Representative of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Additional/Deputy Director General (JS R&A) Conference during his visit to Bhopal.
