In many cases, an notorious criminal, wanted and active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was killed in a joint operation of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and Delhi Police Special Cell. According to the officials, the criminal has been identified as Naveen Kumar, a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, who was admitted to the hospital after being injured during an encounter in Kotwali Hapur on Wednesday night.
Kumar was wanted in a case of murder and MCOCA (Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act) in Delhi’s Floor Bazar police station area. Officials said the wanted accused Naveen Lawrence is an active member of the Bishnoi gang and is a sharpshooter.
According to officials, twenty cases were registered against him including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, dacoity and MCOCA in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and he was also sentenced to court in two cases in Delhi.
Earlier on May 28, the wanted criminal Bhupendra Gwala was injured in an encounter with Jhansi police in a similar case in Uttar Pradesh. In an attempt to catch him, he was shot by the police.
Jhansi Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Kumar said, “When the Moth was checking the police, he (the criminal) was seen on a motorcycle. As soon as he saw the police, he shot at the police and ran towards the forest.” The police recovered a pistol including the stolen battery, a number plate’s suspected motorcycle and cartridge. SP Kumar told the media that the criminal had a reward of Rs 25,000.
