Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the incident of car accident at the wedding ceremony on Saturday and announced an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “In an accident in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, there was a deep sadness due to the loss of life and property. Consideration of those who lost my loved ones in the accident. I wish the injured to recover soon.”
He wrote, “The nearest family of each deceased will be given an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The injured will be given Rs 50,000.” The accident occurred in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, where five people died and many others were injured when a car was collided with the wall of a car carrying the procession.
According to Sambhal SP KK Bishnoi, the police received information about the accident in the evening and immediately reached the spot. He told ANI, “At around 7.30 pm we received information that a Bolero Neo car collided with the wall of Janta Inter College. Police reached the spot and removed the car with the help of JCB.”
The SP said, “Five seriously injured people have been referred to Aligarh, while the other five people died on the spot. They were residents of Hargovind village in Junavai police station area.” The victim was part of a wedding procession, and the groom was leaving for his marriage. Initial investigations have revealed that the accident occurred due to the driver’s mistake.
