Uttar Pradesh: 8 wanted criminals arrested in separate encounters

Uttar Pradesh Police arrested eight wanted criminals in separate encounters in different districts of the state, officials said on Thursday. Lucknow Police arrested four robbers after an encounter in the early hours of Thursday, officials said. The accused have been identified as Aman Singh, Veer Yadav, Karan Singh and a teenager. He told that during the encounter, Aman and Veer were shot in their legs.

Police said that illegal weapons, looted cash, jewelery and a stolen car have been recovered from their possession. He also told that two separate incidents of robbery had taken place on December 22. In a statement issued, it was said that on Thursday around 2.30 am, based on a information, a police team stopped the vehicle of the accused near Neeraj Chowk in Gomti Nagar.

When they were stopped, the accused opened fire on the team. In the retaliatory firing, two robbers were injured in their legs and were taken to hospital, the statement said. It said some of the accused tried to escape, but were caught after the team cordoned off the area. In a separate incident, Krishna Nagar police arrested Mohammed Shamim and Yogesh Yadav, who have been involved in violent crimes in the past, officials said.

He told that on Wednesday night Shamim opened fire on the police team and in the retaliatory firing he got injured. Meanwhile, officials said that a wanted criminal has been arrested after a police encounter in Bahraich district. The accused have been identified as Aslam, Abrar and Abdul Aziz.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ramanand Prasad Kushwaha said that the accused had stolen jewelery worth lakhs of rupees from a shop in Gajadharpur market on November 4. He said that the police received information on Wednesday night that all three were going towards Wazirganj market. He said a team along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) laid a trap and tried to stop his motorcycle.

The officer said that when the team stopped the motorcycle, one of the accused opened fire and in the retaliatory firing, Aslam was hit in the leg. Aslam and Abrar have been caught, but Aziz managed to escape from the spot, the officer said. The injured have been admitted to Bahraich Medical College for treatment. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.
