On this auspicious day, the Shri Gangotri temple was specially decorated with flowers. As soon as the kapat opened, the Dham complex filled with devotional atmosphere and a crowd of devotees gathered to see God.
Akshaya Tritiya: symbol of virtue, tradition and prosperity
Akshaya Tritiya is considered a very auspicious date for Hindu and Jain communities. In Sanskrit, ‘Akshay’ means – “Which is never decay.” The fruits of virtuous work, charity, chanting or investment done on this day are considered to be permanent. This day is especially auspicious for marriage, starting new work, starting business and purchasing gold-duties.
This date comes on Tritiya of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha, and was celebrated on 30 April this year. On this day both Sun and Moon are in their highest astrological position, which further increases its importance. In many places it is also known as ‘Akha Teej’.
Charges related to mythological episodes
It is believed that the Treta Yuga started on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. It is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to another famous legend, on this day Lord Krishna provided Akshaya character to Draupadi, which never reduced food during exile.
This launch of Chardham Yatra is an important moment for religious tourism and devotees of Uttarakhand. Now in the coming days, the doors of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham will also be duly opened, with which the Chardham Yatra will move forward in its full form.
