New Delhi. During the morning prayer meeting in the government schools of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, a verse of Gita or Ramayana will be taught to children. An order in this regard has been issued by the government. Children will be heard daily with a verse meaning so that they can understand it well and assimilate it in life. In this way, with modern education, children will also be associated with Indian traditional knowledge system. Director of Secondary Education Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati has sent a copy of the order to the Chief Education Officers of all the districts.

Teachers have been declared as ‘Shloka of the Week’ every week and instructed to write on the notice board of the school. Students will practice it and it will be discussed at the end of the week and feedback will be taken. It has been said in the order that instead of getting children’s verses of Gita or Ramayana, children have to be familiar with their importance. Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that in the Education Department meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, we have tasked NCERT to include Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana in the syllabus to be taught in 17,000 government schools in Uttarakhand. It has been decided to include Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana verses in the daily prayer meetings held in schools until this change is done in the curriculum.

On the other hand, Mufti Shamoon Kasami, President of Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board, has welcomed this initiative of the state government. He said that it is a good thing to recite the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and the verses of Ramayana in schools. Every Indian should know about Ram and Krishna. Let us tell you that in a meeting held on May 6, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had instructed to include Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana in schools.
