Both of us and the board met tomorrow and this morning and we have detailed on all the suggestions of the rental committee of the rental committee. Discussed. Based on these suggestions, the board has decided that they will be able to take some suggestions and improve for some prices that were growing unusually at various points. “

He also assured that this amendment will provide relief to a large portion of metro users. He said, “We will be able to bring it downwards, hopefully it will provide relief for about 30-45 percent of the passengers, who complained that the increase in fare was unusual.”

Rao said that the revised fare structure will be reduced by about 30 percent, which will be effective today i.e. February 13. “Emphasizing prioritizing the interests of the passengers, Rao said that the final decision was according to the suggestions of the rent assessment committee. are taken.

Due to the increase in fares, the residents of Bengaluru had widely opposed and many people were using the #Boycottmetro hashtag expressing their anger on social media. Many passengers reported low crowds in the metro, especially during office time. However, BMRCL had financially benefited from this increase, but the number of passengers declined. The increase in rent had greatly increased revenue, but many passengers selected alternative transport means, decreasing the daily ride number. Prior to the increase in fares, the Bengaluru Metro was earning around Rs 2 crore daily. Three days after the increase, revenue rose to Rs 3 crore on 9 February, while on 12 February it almost doubled to Rs 3.91 crore. In the last three days, the daily income of the metro has increased by about Rs 1.5 crore. The Bengaluru Metro, which usually provides daily rides to 8.5-9 lakh passengers, saw a shortage of 20,000 to 30,000 passengers. On February 11, Sunday, the ride came down to 7.75 lakhs. The same situation remained on 12 February, Monday, when only 8.04 lakh passengers used the metro, which was much less than the normal number.
