Kameshwar Chaupal, the leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), who had the first brick for the construction of the temple of Ram Lala in Ayodhya, died after illness.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the death of Chaupal.
According to information given by the media center of Ram Mandir Trust, Chaupal breathed his last at Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.
The temple trust said that Chaupal, who hails from Patna, was suffering from kidney disease for a long time.
According to the trust, he laid the first brick at the first foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on November 9, 1989.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) awarded him the title of ‘First Karsevak’.
