A press note in this regard has been issued by the Election Commission. In which it has been told that soon the notification will be issued regarding the Vice Presidential election. After the notification is released, the election date will also be cleared. Earlier yesterday, President Draupadi Murmu sent Vice President Dhankhar to the Ministry of Home Affairs after accepting his resignation. Then the notification was issued regarding the vacancy of the post of Vice President from there.

How is the election of Vice President?
According to the Constitution of India, the Vice President is the second highest constitutional post in the country. The tenure of the Vice President is five years. The Vice President is elected by members of both the Houses of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Nominated members can also vote in it. Whereas this does not happen in the election of the President. Voting is kept confidential. Every ballot has the names of all the candidates. Voters have to write 1, 2 or 3 on the basis of priority in front of the names of the candidates as per their choice. This is followed by counting of votes.
Qualification for the post of Vice President
The first qualification for the Vice Presidential candidate is that he should be a citizen of India. He should be at least 35 years old and should have the ability to become a member of Rajya Sabha.
