New Delhi. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankad once again said that there is no one above Parliament amid the ongoing controversy over the remarks directed by the Supreme Court to the President. Parliament is the highest institution in the country and only selected MPs will decide what the constitution will be like. He said that people sitting in constitutional positions should always keep their point according to the constitution because such people have an impact on the society. At the same time, he insisted on negotiating and discussing openly in democracy.
Jagdeep Dhankad said this as the chief guest at the ‘Dutyam’ program held at Delhi University to mark the completion of 75 years of the Indian Constitution. He said that the statement I had earlier made was in the interest of the country. Explain that after hearing a case related to the Tamil Nadu government and the Governor of the state recently, the Supreme Court had ordered that the Governor will have to take a decision on the bill sent by the Legislative Assembly within a month. The Supreme Court clearly stated that the Governor does not have veto power. With this, the Supreme Court commented that the President will have to decide on a bill in 3 months. After this, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankad expressed displeasure over the Supreme Court’s comment.
Dhankad had said that we cannot create a situation where the courts give instructions to the President. He also said that Article 142 of the Constitution, which gives special rights to the Supreme Court, has become a nuclear missile available twenty -four hours for the judiciary against democratic forces. Dhankad also surrounded the judges on the cash recovery case of former Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma. At the same time, Congress leader and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Kapil Sibal condemned the statement of the Vice President and alleged that he wanted to reduce the judiciary.
