Train accident in Tiruvallur
Two trains have been canceled after the train accident in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. At the same time, the route of eight trains has been changed. The accident occurred between Ponneri-Kavarappettai railway station (46 km from Chennai) of Chennai division. After the accident, repair work is going on on the railway track. Here on Friday evening, instead of going to the main line, the Mysore-Darbhanga Express went to the loop line and collided with a goods train parked there. After the collision, 12-13 coaches of Darbhanga Express derailed. There was no news of any casualty in the accident, while 19 people were injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Three of these passengers are admitted in ICU.
After the accident, Southern Railway set up a helpline desk and has also issued numbers for different stations through which information can be obtained. The second train has left from Tiruvallur for Darbhanga carrying the passengers on board the train.

Southern Railway posted on Twitter that due to the accident of Train No. 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express at Kavaraipettai in Chennai Division at about 20.30 hours on 11 October 2024, the train services have been changed. Train No. 12077 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express scheduled to depart on 12 October 2024 at 07.25 hrs is completely cancelled. Train No. 12078 Vijayawada Dr MGR Chennai Central Jan Shatabdi Express scheduled to depart on 12 October 2024 at 15.30 hrs is completely cancelled.
Route of these trains changed
12641 Kanyakumari-Nizamuddin Thirukkural Express, which departed on October 11 at 19.10 hrs, has been diverted to run via Chennai Central, Arakkonam and Renigunta. Train No. 16093 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Lucknow Junction Express, scheduled to depart at 05.15 hrs on October 12, will run via the diverted route of Arakkonam, Renigunta and Gudur, bypassing the halt at Sullurupetta and Naidupetta. Train No. 12611 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Nizamuddin Garibarath Express, scheduled to depart at 06.00 hrs on 12th October, will run via diverted route via Arakkonam, Renigunta and Gudur. The train scheduled to run at 23.55 hrs on 10 October 2024 will run via Gudur, Renigunta, Arakkonam via Dr MGR Chennai Central. Train No. 12655 Ahmedabad-Dr. MGR Chennai Navjeevan Express, leaving Ahmedabad at 21.25 hrs on 10th October, will run via Gudur, Renigunta, Arakkonam via Dr. MGR Chennai Central. This train will not stop at Sullurupeta. Train No. 22644 Patna – Ernakulam Express which departed from Patna at 14.00 hrs on 10 October 2024 will run via Gudur, Renigunta and Melapakkam. This train will not stop at Perambur.
