New Delhi. The administration has taken strict measures after receiving continuous complaints of over-rating and irregularities at liquor shops in the city. District Magistrate Savin Bansal decided to investigate himself and drove himself to a shop without any staff. He bought liquor by standing in the queue like a normal buyer. McDowell’s bottle, which had a fixed price of ₹ 660, was sold to him for ₹ 680.
As soon as this matter came to light, there was a stir among the liquor sellers of the entire city. Taking immediate action on the orders of the District Magistrate, raids were started across the district. Sub-District Magistrate Hari Giri raided the liquor shop located at Chuna Bhatta, where over-rating and many irregularities were found. A beer bottle worth Rs 200 was sold to a customer for Rs 210, which was Rs 10 more than the prescribed price.
Strict action on over rating
During the administrative investigation, the shop manager admitted in writing that he had made a mistake and that this mistake would not be repeated in future. During the inspection, it was also found that the rate list was not pasted at the right place, due to which the prices were not clearly visible to the customers. Apart from this, the opening and closing time of the shop was also not displayed, the employees did not have identity cards, and the billing machine was also not being used. Among other irregularities, the use of cutting and fluid was found in the register and the cleanliness system was also not satisfactory.

Heavy fines and strict action
On the instructions of the District Magistrate, challans were issued at various liquor shops. A fine of ₹50,000 was imposed on the shop located at Old Mussoorie Road, ₹75,000 on the Chuna Bhatta shop, ₹75,000 on Survey Chowk and ₹50,000 on the shop located at Jakhan. Along with this, during the inspection of the District Magistrate, it was found that the behavior of the salesman was rude towards the customers, which is a serious matter.
Strict action on liquor mafia
Complaints of over-rating were being received in Dehradun for a long time, on which this strict action was taken. Recently, after the attack on journalist Yogesh Dimri by liquor mafia, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had given instructions to take strict action against liquor mafia in the state. After this, raids were conducted at many places in Haridwar, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar districts, in which over-rating, illegal sale of liquor and other irregularities were found.
