New Delhi. The Waqf Amendment Bill passed from the Lok Sabha late on Wednesday night. 288 votes were cast in favor of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. However, 232 MPs from the opposition voted against the Waqf Amendment Bill. Now the Waqf Amendment Bill will be brought to the Rajya Sabha today. The Modi government’s intention is that today it should be passed in Rajya Sabha and implemented as soon as possible. After the Waqf Amendment Bill passes from both houses of Parliament, rules related to it will also have to be made. On the basis of which the Waqf Board and the Central Waqf Council across the country will work further.
The BJP has the support of Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JDU on the Waqf Amendment Bill. The rest of the NDA parties are also supporting the Waqf Amendment Bill. In such a situation, there is no obstacle to be stuck in the Rajya Sabha being passed by the Waqf Amendment Bill. The Rajya Sabha currently has 236 MPs. The total number of NDA MPs including 98 MPs of BJP in this upper house of Parliament is 115. Apart from this, there are 6 nominated MPs. With the vote of these nominated MPs, there are 121 MPs in favor of the government in the Rajya Sabha. Whereas, 119 MPs are needed to pass the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Apart from Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar in favor of the Waqf Amendment Bill, PM Narendra Modi has also given big messages by bringing all the NDA allies with the BJP. PM Modi has conveyed the message by bringing allies together on the Waqf Amendment Bill that even if the BJP does not have its own majority, he is not a weak Prime Minister. Modi has also made it clear through the Waqf Amendment Bill that he will continue to take important decisions. Apart from this, through the Waqf Amendment Bill, PM Narendra Modi has also responded to those leaders of the opposition including Rahul Gandhi of Congress, who were saying that after the result of the Lok Sabha elections, the opposition Indie alliance has weakened Modi.
