New Delhi. After the residence in the budget session of Parliament, now the second part of it is going to start from Monday 10 March. In this session of Parliament, the Modi government will pass the budget. Also, many important bills are also preparing to pass the Modi government in this session of Parliament. The important bill which the Modi government is preparing to pass in this session of Parliament, also has the Waqf Amendment Bill. Recently, it was quoted by sources that the Union Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi has approved the new format of the Waqf Amendment Bill. While passing this bill, there is a possibility of creation in Parliament and there is also a possibility of dhingmushti between the Modi government and the opposition.
JPC President Jagdambika Pal and some members set up on the Waqf Amendment Bill.
Minority Welfare Minister Kiren Rijiju in the Modi government introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha in August 2024. After which it was sent to JPC to make it more discussion and the opposition. The Waqf Amendment Bill was fiercely discussed by JPC headed by Jagdambika Pal and was also consulted with many Muslim organizations and their leaders. After which JPC suggested 14 amendments given by NDA members on the Waqf Amendment Bill. At the same time, all the amendments of opposition MPs were invalidated by the JPC when the majority was not achieved. The opposition created a ruckus on this. When Jagdambika Pal presented the report of JPC in Parliament on the Waqf Amendment Bill on 13 February during the budget session, the opposition, including the Congress, said that they do not consider it. Then Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha that the opposition should not object to whatever the twins want in this report.
Now the Modi government has made 14 changes in the Waqf Amendment Bill according to the recommendation of JPC. Constitution amendment will have to be amended to pass the Waqf Amendment Bill. Due to this, the bill will have to be passed with a majority from the Rajya Sabha besides the Lok Sabha. The NDA has a majority in the Lok Sabha, but in the Rajya Sabha it may have to seek the help of Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSRCP and BJD. Now everyone is eyeing whether the Modi government is able to give the opposition to the Parliament in passing the Waqf Amendment Bill.
