The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 8 August 2024. The bill was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the same day after protesting by the opposition. JPC proposed several amendments in the bill after holding several meetings. In the meeting, the Union Cabinet gave its approval to the 14 amendments proposed by the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC).
