New Delhi. The Waqf Amendment Bill has received approval of both houses of Parliament. The bill was discussed for about 14 hours in the Rajya Sabha where there was a strong debate between the ruling party and the MPs of the opposition. After which the bill was passed late on Thursday night. The bill cast 128 votes in favor, while 95 MPs voted against it. Now this bill will be presented before President Draupadi Murmu. After getting the President’s approval, this bill will become law and then it will be implemented in the whole.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju first introduced the Bill in Lok Sabha and then Rajya Sabha. The bill was discussed for about 12 hours in the Lok Sabha. The bill was passed from Lok Sabha at around 2 pm on Wednesday. A total of 288 votes were cast in favor of the bill and 232 votes in protest. Kiren Rijiju, while presenting the bill, said that the opposition is trying to create confusion about this bill. Along with this, he apprised all the suggestions related to the bill and tried to remove the misconceptions. While discussing the bill in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda explained in many details about the amendments to be made in the bill.
Nadda said that the basic objective of this bill is to improve the Waqf properties properly. This bill is in the interest of the national, not in the interest of any party or for the politics of appeasement. At the same time, the opposition opposed this when the Waqf by user was removed from the bill. Earlier, BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal described Waqf by user as a big weapon of Waqf Boards. He said that what was the Namaz on someone’s land for a few days, that land became the Waqf Board from the Waqf by user.
