Waqf claims on Thiruchendurai village.
Discussions are going on about the Waqf Amendment Bill proposed by the Central Government across the country at this time. The Waqf Amendment Bill has been introduced in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament on Wednesday and it is being discussed. It is believed that the government will easily pass this bill in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. However, many Muslim organizations, including opposition parties and AIMPLB, are strongly opposed to this bill. The story of Tiruchendurai, a village in Tamil Nadu, has come out in the midst of this uproar over the Waqf Bill. Actually, on the land of this entire village, the Waqf Board claimed it as its own.
1500 year old temple also claims
Tiruchendurai of Tamil Nadu is a village where the Waqf Board claimed to be on the entire 330 acres of land. There is also a centuries -old Manendiavalli Chandrashekhar Swamy Temple in the village of Thiruchendurai, located in Tiruchi district of Tamil Nadu. It is said that this is the eighth century temple i.e. this temple is 1500 years old. Along with the entire village, the Waqf Board also claimed the temple land.
Waqf expressed rights over the land of the entire village
In the year 2022, a farmer named Rajagopal tried to sell his farming land. Rajagopal had to repay the loan but could not sell his land. In fact, Rajagopal was told to the Registrar Office that Waqf has asserted its authority over all the land of this entire village. In such a situation, no land without Waqf Board NOC can be purchased or sold. Even a notice in this regard was pasted in the Registrar office.
State government intervened
When there was a ruckus about this issue, the DMK government intervened and said that there is no need for NOC from the Waqf Board for the registry of land. After this, many lands in the village were also sold in the last 3 years. But the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board is still standing on the claim that the land of the village is Waqf. However, no document related to this has been publicly publicized.
