New Delhi. A case of brutal murder of six people by suspected Kuki militants has come to light in Manipur. After this incident, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed deep grief and called it a crime against humanity. He has assured that the culprits will be caught and brought to justice as soon as possible.
Chief Minister’s reaction on the killing of women and children
Amid the recent violence in the state, Chief Minister Biren Singh termed the incident as heinous and said a massive search operation was being conducted to find those who murdered the three women and children. These bodies were recovered from a river in Jiribam district.
Sharing a video on social media, the CM said, “Today, I condemn with deep sorrow and anger the gruesome killing of three innocent children and three women held hostage in Jiribam by Kuki terrorists. There is no place for such barbaric acts in any civilized society. I want to assure you that these terrorists will soon be brought to justice for their inhuman acts.”

What is the whole matter?
Manipur has been in the grip of ethnic conflict and violence for the last 18 months. Amid rising tension and crisis in the state, the central government recently re-imposed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in six areas. After this move, a new wave of protests has started in Imphal Valley. The killing spree began on November 11, when six people went missing from the displaced persons camp in Jiribam. The camp was created after an encounter between security forces and militants. 10 militants were killed in this encounter.

Tension is increasing amid the ongoing ethnic conflict and fresh violence in the state. The decision to implement AFSPA has further intensified the public anger. Chief Minister Biren Singh strongly condemned the incident and said that the government is making every possible effort to give strict punishment to the culprits.
