Union Law Minister Arjunram Meghwal
Union Law and Justice Minister Arjunram Meghwal said on Saturday that the central government is committed to implement the ‘one country, one election’ system. Meghwal was addressing the ceremony after inaugurating the new academic section of a private university in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.
Even before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held together
He said, ‘Central Government’ is committed to implement ‘one country, one election’. Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously in the years 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1967. Meghwal described the ‘one country, one election’ in the interest of the country.
Union Cabinet approves it
He said that the ‘Ek Desh, One Election’ has been given its consent by the Election Commission, our committees, the group of NITI Aayog and then the High Level Committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind and the Union Cabinet has also approved it. The minister said that this bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha, which is currently under consideration with the Joint Parliamentary Committee and is being discussed with various social organizations.
Some parties do politics of appeasement- Meghwal
In response to a question of media besides the program, Meghwal said, ‘There are some parties that do politics of appeasement. PM Modi emphasizes satisfaction instead of appeasement. (With language input)
