Patna. Elections of 3 municipal corporations are going to be held on 28 June 2025 in Patna district of Bihar, 2 in Rohtas district and 2 in East Champaran district. The Bihar Election Commission has launched an E-Voting app for voting from home in all these municipal elections. Through the e-voting app, those people will be able to vote, who cannot go to the polling station due to illness or physical illness. For the first time in India, voting is going to be done through an app. The Bihar Election Commission says that the vote cast through the e-voting app will be safe.
While launching the e-voting app, Bihar State Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad said that so far 10,000 voters have registered for voting from home. He informed that the e-voting app has been launched under the pilot project. With this, people unable to go to the polling station will be able to use their franchise by voting at home. He said that the e-voting app is based on blockchain. That is, apart from the competent authority, no one will be able to access nor will the vote be tampered with. The votes from the e-voting app will be recorded in the unchanged system. The identity of the voter through face autantilation will also be ensured before using the e-voting app.
In the e-voting app, a maximum of two voters will be able to log in from the same mobile number. Also, the identity of the voter ID will be verified before casting the vote. The app named E-SECBHR is currently made for Android mobile phones. The voter will have to link it with the mobile number given in the voter list. After verification, voters from the e-voting app will be able to vote on the day of voting. This process has also been kept easy. Once voted, the concerned voters will not be able to vote again. It is believed that if the pilot project is successful, even in other elections, disabled people, sick and pregnant women will be allowed to exercise their franchise through e-voting apps sitting at home. At present, polling officers go to the house of such people and take votes on the ballot.
