What is 'Neja Mela', why is it being opposed everywhere? Demand for ban on these places - India tv hindi

Demand to ban Neja fair everywhere

The ‘Neja Mela’ held in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh has been banned. This fair has been organized in the name of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi. However, this time the local police administration has not allowed it to be held. This order has been issued by the district administration and police of Sambhal. SSP of Sambhal Srischandra told the fair committee, “No fair will be organized in India in the name of robbery and slaughter in India.” There is a protest against ‘Neja Mela’. Please tell that Syed Salar Masood Ghazi’s Dargah (Tomb) is located in Bahraich. After Sambhal, there is a demand to ban the fair in Bahraich and Moradabad.

Who is Syed Salar Masood Ghazi?

Actually, Syed Salar Masood Ghazi is known as the nephew and commander of Mahmud Ghaznavi. Mahmud Ghaznavi who was notorious to attack the Indian subcontinent. Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked 17 times in India from 1000 to 1027. It is said that Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked many big Hindu temples including Somnath Temple.

Syed Salar Masood Ghazi (10 February 1014–15 June 1034), also known as Ghazi Mian, also known as religious personality. More information about Syed Salar Masood is found from a book called “Mirat-i-Masudi”, which was written by Abdurrahman Chishti in the 1620s. In this book, he has been described as the nephew of Mahmud Ghaznavi, Emperor of the Ghaznavi Empire and said that he participated in several military operations for the Ghaznavi Empire in India. However, Ghaznavi historians have not mentioned them about them and this book is primarily a Hazigranth (based on the life of saints), which is doubted from a historical perspective.

Opposition of Hindu organizations

Hindu organizations say that Syed Salar Masood Ghazi attacked India several times. Looted the Somnath temple. No fair should be organized in the memory of such a person.

The fair was for three days

After Holi in Sambhal, Neja Mela was held in memory of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi. This was a very old tradition. Objection was also raised about this event earlier. There was a plan to bury the flag of the fair on 18 March in Sambhal. With this, on 25, 26 and 27 March, the fair committee announced the fair, but now it has been banned. Now Sambhal district administration has clearly stated that it will not allow the fair to be organized in the name of robbers.
