Rameswaram. In Tamil Nadu, trains will start running from the new Pamban bridge from today. This bridge is built above the sea at the Palkal Strait of Tamil Nadu. Earlier there was an old Pamban bridge here. With the inauguration of PM Narendra Modi, rail traffic will start on the new Pamban bridge. This bridge is amazing of railway engineering. The first such railway bridge in India is a vertical lift. That is, when the ship has to pass under it, then a part of the Pamban bridge will be lifted through motors. In 2019, the Central Government approved the construction of new Pamban Bridge.

The new Pamban Bridge is built because the old pambon bridge was no longer useful for use. The old Pamban bridge was built in the year 1914. Once, it suffered a lot of damage due to the storm. After which it was being repaired and the movement of trains was being made, the middle part in the old Pambon bridge also opened for ships passing down. This part was about to open on both sides like a door. Whereas, lifting the middle part in the new Pamban bridge, the way is given to the larger vessels from the bottom.
The old Pamban rail bridge was like this. Its middle part opened on both sides like doors.
The length of the new Pamban bridge is 2.07 km. The middle part of the new Pamban bridge is 72.5 meters in length. By lifting this part up, big ships will be able to get out. This part of the new Pamban bridge can be raised up to 17 meters. Because of this, even the biggest ships are not going to have any problem in getting out of the bottom. The average height from the sea surface of the new Pamban bridge is 3 meters. The new Pambon bridge is built from stainless steel. Also, special paint has been done to prevent the new Pamban bridge from war. According to the information, trains will be able to pass through the new Pamban bridge for the next 100 years. The same rail tracks have been laid on the new Pamban bridge. If needed, the second rail track is also a system of laying on the new Pamban bridge.
