Delhi Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced several initiatives to promote education and entrepreneurship, including CM Sri School, Language Laboratories, Modern Computer Laboratories and Startup Assistance Center.
The government has allocated Rs 100 crore to establish a new CM Sri School and Rs 500 crore for the Education Center in Narela with a view to strengthen Delhi’s education infrastructure.
While presenting the annual budget of FY 26 of Delhi, Gupta highlighted the government’s commitment to digital education by announcing free laptops for 1,200 students of class 10 and kept Rs 7.5 crore separate for this initiative.
For the development of multilingual skills, 100 new language laboratories will be established in the name of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, which will have courses available in French, German, English, Spanish and other languages. 21 crore rupees have been allocated for this project.
The Chief Minister also launched a new scheme, ‘Entrepreneur Ecosystem and New Age of Vision’ to create a commercial mentality among the students and allocated Rs 20 crore to support this initiative.
Additionally, several startup assistance centers will be set up across Delhi to provide financial assistance and guidance to young entrepreneurs. Accepting the need for modern infrastructure, Gupta announced to set up 175 new computer labs and smart classrooms with an investment of Rs 50 crore.
He said, “Computer systems in many existing schools in Delhi have become outdated and the purpose of this initiative is to upgrade facilities for students.”
The budget also emphasizes technical education, including Rs 230 crore for Delhi Silk Entrepreneur University, Rs 57 crore for Netaji Subhash Technology University, Rs 42 crore for Delhi Technology University and Rs 68 crore for Industrial Training Institutes.
The Chief Minister announced, “Rs 886 crore has been allocated for training and technical education programs.”
