New information has been revealed in the investigation of the Air India aircraft accident in India. The accident occurred on 12 June 2025 with a flight AI-171 going from Ahmedabad to London. Boeing 787-8 crashed 30 seconds after the aircraft takeoff. It killed 241 passengers and many others.
Investigation revealed that the cause of the accident was not the fault of the pilot. Initial results suggest that there was a serious electricity problem in the aircraft immediately after the takeoff. Because of this, the main power system of the aircraft could not work. The aircraft reached a height of only 625 feet and then fell down.
Investigators have recovered the black box (flight data recorder). This will reveal the real cause of the accident. It is not yet clear whether the black box will be sent abroad for analysis. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that the decision in this regard will be taken by looking at technical and security aspects.
Experts say that the RAM of the aircraft was operational. It is an emergency system that helps to run the aircraft when there is a lack of electricity. But it could not be effective due to low height.
Some people believe that both engines may have malfunction. However, experts say that this is very rare. Another theory is that there may be problems with the flaps or landing gear of the aircraft. All these aspects are being considered in the investigation.
The Government of India has ordered a security check of all the Boeing 787 aircraft of Air India. So far, 24 aircraft have been investigated and no major flaws have been found. But some shortcomings have been found in maintenance and coordination.
The accident is the first fatal accident of Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Investigations include experts from India, USA and Britain. Black box data is expected to get more information soon.
