New Delhi. At the NXT Conclave 2025 held in India’s Bharat Mandapam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the British had enacted a law 150 years ago-Dramatic Performance Act. The British then wanted the drama and theater to not be used against them. There was a provision in this law that if 10 people are found dancing in public place, they can be arrested. It means that if more than 10 people are dancing in the procession during the wedding, then the police could arrested everyone along with the groom. This law was applicable till 75 years after independence. Our government abolished that law.

PM said, I have nothing to say to the government and leaders of that time, I am sitting here but I am surprised at this Lutyens Jamaat and Khan Market Gang. Why were these people silent on such a law for 75 years? These people who keep going to court on the day they come and become the ‘contractor’ of PIL, why were these people silent? Why did he not worry about liberty then? The Prime Minister said, if someone said today, Modi would make such a law, then think what would have happened? Even though trolls spread such false information on social media that Modi is going to make such a law, then ‘these people would set fire, would take Modi’s hair’. But, this is our government that has abolished the law of the period of slavery.
