Russian President Vladimir Putin recently made a statement about peace talks with Ukraine. He said that China, India and Brazil can play the role of mediators in peace talks on Ukraine. After this, a statement came from Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. She said that India can play an important role in ending the Ukraine war. Meanwhile, news has come out that the National Security Advisor (NSA) will visit Russia next week, where he will participate in the BRICS NSA meeting before the summit to be held in Kazan in October. During this time Ajit Doval can discuss about resolving the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to sources, during this visit he may also hold a meeting with his Chinese counterpart. Doval is also likely to have separate meetings with his Russian counterpart and representatives of other BRICS member countries. Earlier, he attended the 13th BRICS NSA meeting in Johannesburg in 2023. Last year, five new members Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia were included in the group. After this, this will be the first BRICS NSA meeting.
Steps to promote peace
Prime Minister Modi had a phone conversation with President Putin. During this, it was discussed that the Prime Minister will send his NSA to Russia to discuss peace-related ideas after his Ukraine visit. In view of this, NSA Ajit Doval will visit Russia. The meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors is an important milestone in BRICS political and security cooperation. Under this meeting, issues like terrorism, cyber security, peace and stability, international organized crime as well as national security of BRICS countries are discussed.
The NSAs of the BRICS countries have been meeting since 2009 to enhance dialogue and exchange information on security issues. The BRICS countries have rapidly developed a counter-terrorism strategy. The strategy aims to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation as well as international peace and security, to make a meaningful contribution to global efforts to prevent and combat the threat of violent terrorism.
