Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh has passed away at the age of 92. He died at 9.51 pm on Thursday at AIIMS in Delhi. Manmohan Singh, one of the most famous economists of India and the world, was the Prime Minister of the country for a total of 10 years from 2004 to 2014. Earlier, he had also held the post of Finance Minister of the country and had made major changes in the economic policies of the country.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in Gah village of Punjab, undivided India. This area now falls in Chakwal, Punjab (Pakistan). His father’s name was Gurmukh Singh and mother’s name was Amrit Kaur. Manmohan Singh’s mother died when he was very young. After this his grandmother raised him. After partition, Manmohan Singh’s family came to India.
Where did you get your education from?
The area of Punjab where Manmohan Singh received his early education is today a part of Pakistan. He did his graduation and post graduation from Punjab University. After this he obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University and then a Doctorate degree in Economics from Oxford University. Let us tell you that Manmohan Singh used to write his Hindi speeches in Urdu script. Apart from Urdu, he also used to write in Gurmukhi script of Punjabi language and in English.
