Lucknow. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram temple of Ayodhya, has passed away. Satyendra Das was 85 years old. He was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI in Lucknow after stroke on 3 February. Where he breathed his last on Wednesday. Acharya Satyendra Das was the main priest of the Ram temple for a long time. He used to worship Ramlala in the temple since before the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. Satyendra Das was very happy when the Ram temple was built in Ayodhya. Despite his age, he continued to worship Ramlala in the Ram temple every day.
Acharya Satyendra Das was born in the saint Kabirnagar district of UP. He was from a Brahmin family. Satyendra Das turned to Ayodhya in the 1950s. When Acharya Satyendra Das became the priest of Ram temple in the year 1992, he was given 100 rupees a month. His salary was later increased. Satyendra Das was also a teacher before becoming the priest of Ram temple. He obtained the title of Acharya in Sanskrit. Satyendra Das also did teaching work at Sanskrit College, Ayodhya.
Satyendra Das became a disciple of Sant Abhiradas, who was involved in the case of keeping the statue of Ramlala in the Babri Masjid. Satyendra Das had taken out the statue of Ramlala and his brothers with a falling structure during the Babri Masjid demolition. After which he installed the idols in the temporary temple. He had worshiped Ramlala with all the veterans including PM Narendra Modi. The rules related to worshiping Ramlala were prepared by Acharya Satyendra Das.
